How much does it cost to remove a stump?2022-08-30T14:37:41-05:00

There are several factors that go into determining the price.

  • The size of the stump. This determines grinding time. Price is calculated by measuring the diameter across the widest point of the stump at ground level, this includes any exposed roots that will also be ground down. (See picture)
  • Access to the stump. If extra prep time is needed to prepare the site or access the site, extra fees could be incurred.
  • The clean-up. DeJong will clean up the job site and remove debris for a fee or leave that for you to do yourself.
How deep do you grind a stump?2022-08-22T15:28:54-05:00

Typically, we will grind the stump 5-6 inches below the ground level to allow new plantings to grow on the surface. If a deeper grind is requested, extra fees will apply.

Can you remove surface roots?2022-08-22T15:28:31-05:00

Yes! Depending upon how large, how many, and how long, extra fees will apply.

Can I use the mulch produced by stump grinding?2022-08-26T11:00:27-05:00

YES, the mulch is very environmentally friendly!  The mulch is a combination of wood chips and debris that works great mulching around trees, as well as in flower and vegetable gardens.

What type of equipment do you have?2022-08-22T15:25:43-05:00

The stump cutter is a 2022 Vermeer SC 362 and is able to get through a 36” gate if needed.

Why should I grind my stump away?2022-08-26T11:03:08-05:00

There are many reasons to remove a tree stump – aesthetics, you don’t want to constantly mow around it, you want to avoid termites, ants, and other pests near your home, you want to plant a new tree, you don’t want the stump sprouting into a new tree, and many more besides!
